    QNU Launched Seafarer Training Program for Countries along the Belt and Road

    QNU hosted the opening ceremony of a specialized seafarer training program for participants from countries along the Belt and Road on July 19. The ceremony was attended by Vice President Xiahou Jianbing, Lin Li, Director of the Seafarer Management Department under the Fujian Maritime Safety Administration, and Lin Chen, Director of the Quanzhou Maritime Safety Administration.24 trainees from Bangladesh, representatives from QNU office of International Exchange and Cooperation School of Transportation and Navigation, and Seafarer Training Center.

    During the ceremony, addresses were delivered by Vice President Xiahou Jianbing, Director Lin Li, and Md. Maruf Hassan, a representative of the international trainee cohort. The 44-day program were conducted in strict compliance with Chinese seafarer training standards, covering courses in Chinese language and cultural studies, as well as professional maritime skills, combining theoretical instruction with hands-on practical sessions. The training aimed to substantially enhance participants’ professional competencies, language proficiency, and cross-cultural communication abilities. Upon successful completion of the training, the trainees would be awarded an official Training Certificate.

    In the future QNU would take this training program as an opportunity to further develop international seafarer training frameworks under the Belt and Road Initiative. Efforts would be focused on fostering new quality productive forces to advance the high-quality development of global maritime training.
